a note on our first edition
The books are made. We have changed the way they are printed.
Every story written, every illustration painted. What remains is the printing — and we have chosen to have it done properly.
When we first gave September, we meant it. The plan at that stage was a local printer and a short schedule.
More families came to us than we had any right to expect, and that gave us a choice we did not have before: hold the date, or make the books to the standard we had always intended. Sewn bindings, colour matched to the original paintings, paper with some weight to it, and a slipcase that still reads as a gift years from now.
We could not have both. The collection has therefore gone to a specialist children's-book printer whose presses have produced some of Britain's best-loved characters, Peter Rabbit among them. It is the company we should like these books to keep — and it takes months rather than weeks.
First editions will be dispatched in December 2026. We wrote to everyone who had already ordered as soon as the new date was confirmed, and we are sorry that it moved at all.

Dispatched with complimentary delivery, packed to arrive as a gift ought to.
We are working to have the first copies air-freighted at the end of October, so that the earliest orders reach their families as soon as the books exist, with further sets following by sea shortly behind. December is the date we will stand behind; October is the one we are working towards. We would rather give you the later date and surprise you.
What she will be holding
Six stories, each drawn from a single ayah on abundance — a fig, a bee, a table, a garden. Shown to her, never quoted at her
Written to be asked for again at bedtime; if the story is not loved, little else we have done counts for much
The words already spoken in your home — bismillah, alhamdulillah — set where they naturally fall, with no glossary and no lesson attached
British and Muslim life on the same page: school shoes at the door, dates on the plate. Nothing she must explain away in the playground
Watercolour painted by hand, to the standard of the picture books she already loves — that is the shelf these will stand on
Read-aloud language written for a four- to seven-year-old's ear: proper sentences, proper rhythm, no moralising
It gives her a story she loves, and gives you somewhere to begin; the noticing is something you build together, over years.
Reserve a first edition, and have a hand in the reason it was made properly.
Change your mind at any point before dispatch and we shall refund you in full. No forms, no questions.
Every page has been prepared for a child we have not met. We took the longer road so that the first books on her shelf would be worth keeping. Thank you for waiting with us.
